Baking with Beth

Baking with Beth – Season 1

Me and my wonderful sister, Beth.

2020 was a difficult and unusual year for a lot of people but through working at home I was able to collaborate with my sister, Beth, to make a short web series called Baking with Beth. Baking is one of my sister’s biggest hobbies and passions so being able to combine my love of filmmaking and her love of baking meant it was a great project to undertake together. It was also a fantastic project to keep us busy and occupied in a time when the world seemed to stop spinning. This project also pushed me to further develop my self taught animation skills as I designed and animated a short opening for each episode of our web series.

The first season consists of 24 episodes, which are all short baking tutorials, and they explore a variety of different baking ideas to inspire you and to help you get creative in the kitchen by baking yourself something nice at home.

Below is my Baking with Beth – Season 1 playlist, feel free to browse through all 24 episodes of our web series and I hope something takes your fancy.

Hopefully we will be returning with Baking with Beth – Season 2 at some point in the near future!

Baking with Beth – VE Day Special

I was most proud of episode 6 in our first season of Baking with Beth as it allowed me to be more creative. I was able to make a more stylised episode of Baking with Beth here and it meant I could develop my skills not just as a filmmaker but as an editor. This episode was a VE Day Special where we made Carrot Biscuits and I could use new editing techniques I had not used in any of our other episodes. I was able to give this episode a war time style and feel by using themed music from the 1940s, editing in black and white as well as giving the footage an old time feel by applying a layer of film grain to it. This episode can be found in my Season 1 playlist above but you can also watch this special episode of Baking with Beth below.
